jpayne@68 10 #include <ares.h>
jpayne@68 11
jpayne@68 12 const char *ares_version(int *\fIversion\fP)
jpayne@68 13 .fi
jpayne@68 14 .SH DESCRIPTION
jpayne@68 15 The \fBares_version(3)\fP function gets the library version as a string and
jpayne@68 16 optionally as an integer stored in the \fIversion\fP argument. If you pass a
jpayne@68 17 NULL, no integer is attempted to be returned.
jpayne@68 18
jpayne@68 19 The integer is built up as 24bit number, with 8 separate bits used for major
jpayne@68 20 number, minor number and patch number. This makes a version string such as
jpayne@68 21 1.2.3 will be returned as the hexadecimal number 0x010203 (decimal 66051).
